I currently have a job as an assistant bar manager who deals with 5 different bars in a 4 star hotel but i have to answer someone, i have been offered a new job in a 4 star hotel where i will be the bar supervisor but the lone person in charge. The new job only has one bar so would be alot easier. The pay is the same so I dont know what to pick. Is being a manager in title more important then having a supervisor in you title?

Better to get the new job, less work same pay PLUS you might even get promoted after a few months. Experience-wise, doing it by your lonesome is a good learning in case you want to move on to a 5 star hotel.

If the pay is the same, but a better title and less work, then WHY NOT? Take the new job. I know people who had taken a title cut for a same pay but better job/less work/better company. Having a Supervisor title is better than "assistant manager" any day!

I'd make the move. Not because the title sounds better, but because the title is better. Once you have done the new job for a while your resume will show that you have been MANAGER for X years, as opposed to supervisor/assistant manager. This experience at a perceived higher level should allow you to BS yourself into a better position down the road, and pad that resume nicely!

where will it take you in 2 or 5 yrs, you have to think about the long run, the benefits, and where you will gain the most experience for your future. what if you want to open your own bar someday, which will be the best learning tool? and is it always easier to take the easier job? which will give you the best raises? how far is it from where you live? what are the working conditions like, what are the staff like, do they show up for work, i think that you need to think about everything when you make a choice like that, good luck and remember about YOUR future.

As a chef, who deals every day with "supervisors", "managers", "F&B Directors", etc., I can tell you that the title matters not! What do you do, provide, contribute to the operation? And how much do you get paid to do it??? Work up from there! And keep on going!

Don't move

Move only if you receive a higher pay and better working conditions
