Unfortunately much of this is genetically inherited and there isn't an enormous amount that can be done. Its partly down to having very thin skin under the eyes that allows the blood vessels to be seen through giving that dark appearance. You could try massaging one of the many eye products that are available on the market, gently onto the under eye area in a circular motion. This should boost circulation reducing some of the darkness, shifting some of the underlying and trapped impurities and some of the products also contain collagen which helps the thin skin to grow and thicken making the veins less obvious through the skin. If the darkness is very severe, consult your doctor who may be able to refer you to a vein clinic who could suggest some laser of cream based treatments to help. In the meanwhile, try concealers that have a greenish colour based to them as this helps to conceal the darkness better than blue-white products which can leave you with the strange ghost like pallour. Good luck!

Smoking, alcohol and poor diet can cause dark circles, they are often a sign that the liver is working overtime to detoxify you. Take a long hard look at your diet, do you eat lots of refined foods, in particular sugar? If so you need to cut them out. Likewise, if you smoke/drink you need to quit. Water is good, but at least two litres a day. You could also reduce caffeine if you can and remember that caffeine is found not only in tea and coffee but in chocolate and Cola. Having said all that dark circles can be hereditary, mine are, but I've found that by doing some of the things I've recommended that they are less noticeable. I also use Avon's Anew Clinical Eye Lift which is really good.

This is often inherited and there is not much you can do to combat it. I would suggest having an eye treatment once/month at a salon, as their massage technique will help get rid of any congestion/toxins that have builit up Also a very good concealer is YSL Touche Eclait, its around 20 quid, but lasts for months and I reckon the best one on the market at the mo.

Smoking can cause bad circulation and is quite noticeable around the eyes.
Maybe you spend too much time on your computer? Eye strain?
Get an eye test to make sure that your eyes are healthy.

Do you look down many pairs of binoculars or telescopes?
If you do, you may want to check the eye piece for black paint before you put them to your eyes.
This will soon stop the problem.
Hope this helps...

eye balm - look for plant-based ingredients coz they contain a lot of retinols or antioxidants which can make dull skin brighter.Plus don't forget the traditional treatment-cool cucumber slices on your eyes for 10 minutes every day.Good luck bella!
