.... so let's just tell individuals to explore their options, choose their favourite and bear the consequences.
How soundly is such advise? Note that human minds are flicking. Some choices have lasting repercausions. And most repercausinons affect their immediate circles or community-in-large.

Yes, no one likes to be told what to do and that is because everyone has got different values and beliefs... meaning they hold true different things as being the most important to them in the world...
You are right to say that some choices have lasting repercussions but if it fulfills their values, even if you gave them a chance to rechoose their choice, they will still choose the SAME choice.
When you say most repurcussions may affect their immediate circles or community at large.. Of course in the perfect world, we would want to choose something that benefits everyone but in the real world, it is the survival of the fittest.
If the person is someone who cares about his/her family and friends and hold them as most important to him, he would naturally choose something that would not harm them.
But if he values other things.. eg a son who wants to shift out of his house despite knowing that his mum will miss him cos he values freedom more than family warmth...I respect that as well.
WE are affected by other people's decisions. The sad mother will be affected by her son's decision. But also believe that everyone is responsible for their own happiness. So it is up to the mother whether she wants to accept this happily and feel happy that he is independent now and that there is less housework to do and the house is alot cleaner.
The real problem, however, I have noticed as a seasoned agony aunty and solution provider to my friends, is that most people DO NOT EVEN KNOW WAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO THEM IN THE WORLD AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SOUND DECISION!
Too many people who do not know what they want just make any decision they like but only live to regret it.
So I guess this advise is sound advice. As long as the individuals know what they want and wat they like and are willing to pay the price for whatever decision they make.

I agree,
(because) if someone tells you to do something, there's no free will and this is conflicting with what humans really want: do their own thing...
OK some choices have repercausions. But I wonder what is harder to live with: repercausions because you did something because someone else told you to, or because you made your own choice...
I'd rather make my own choices (and get some repercausions by doing so), than doing what other people tell me to (and live their life, not mine; get frustrated by that and ending up hating the people you should love)
I just can say: think twice before you do something and act responsable if something goes wrong. Don't hurt anyone intentionally. Then there's nothing wrong with doing your own thing. If other people can't respect that, it's their problem!

That is not necessarily so. In cultures where obedience is demanded and disobedience is severly punished people learn to obey. It is not a matter of liking or disliking it.
In cultures where there is more freedom of every kind, people get used to doing what they want and get upset when the power of self-determination and or choice is limited or removed.

I would support the proposition. It is a sound proposition though it is bound to cause some problems. But if we have a good social framework to address the problems arising out of it we should give it a try. And yes even if my child !

Everybody thinks he/she is right.
There comes ego that why to obey some body else.
All the problems start with that.
Many times people tell to misguide also.
Hence it is complicated.
One should listen to others and decide for himself based on his intuition without any limitations with open mind else those will be responsible.

I would respect someones indpendent investigation of whats true and I would also respect someone who I believe to have gone through the same situations I did to get where I want to be and in that case would listen to what they said to do, otherwise I agree.
