on a 2000 honda cbr 600 f4 is it, and is it a six speed
is it like a dirt bike shift pattern (1 down 5 up)

1 down, 5 up = 6 speed. Period.
1 down, 4 up = 5 speed. Period.

There's no reverse, and no plate to show shift pattern on mordern bikes. Goldwings to have reverse though.

It is a six speed. Street shift pattern one down, five up

No it is not.The pattern is usually marked on the metal plate containing the slots. Reverse has a special notch, then a back and forth zig zag pattern will put you in high gear

Hubby says every bike he's ever ridden (or heard of) is 1down 5 up. He also says it's possible to customize to any pattern you want to but is it worthwhile.
