As far as I'm concerned, it was when Klinger stopped wearing dresses and trying to get OUT of the Army. That was such an uncharacteristic change in the character that, it took part of the original comedy aspect of the show. If not that, then it was when the show took its more serious turn and stopped being the comedy it was originally run as.

When Alan Alda decided to ruin the show with his directing!

In my opinion it was when Alan Alda started directing. He tried to make to many statements and not enough comedy.

I love all of it...there are a few individual episodes that I like or dislike more than others, but I have and will watch them all over and over and over and...
