Yo, dude. The brothers in So Central LA could take over most of the countries in Africa. Just ship them (along with their gats) over and they will own a few of the countries in short order.

because Africa is the motherland of our culture as a society of black people and everything that's happened to Africa back in the day and up until this year is a transition of what we as black people have accomplished over many centuries and i mean that Africa has so much history and it's a rich history that has paid the way for us today minus all the bad things that has happened to Africa now with diseases, shortage of clean drinking water, scarce food supply, and the many men, women and children that may not have a good home and i think that Africa has so much heritage that makes us black folk proud to be who we are as a culture because i am actually of African descent but i was born and raised in America and being African American is a huge deal as for knowing that i had ancestors who came from Africa off slave ships to be bought and sold to plantation owners aside from that just knowing that my ancestors left a legacy to me because in my opinion I'm proud to have been born into a culture that's has so much history but it's not that we seem to want to go back to the motherland on an impulse it's really that if you think about how Africa was before in the 1800s and then in the 1900s but there was a change in the 90s but look at how Africa is now in the new millennium sure the country has had it's problems but the country isn't perfect and we as a nation in america are not perfect either

The people you on Maury and Jerry are pick out because they show the worst stereotypes for people. Even the trailer trash and hillbillies are shown the same. Most Black people would love to go to Africa. Africa is a continent with 55 separate countries, many of them are very beautiful. They have world class beaches and resorts. Most of the Africa we see on TV is of the starvation, the violence, and of course the bush. This goes along the lines of the US media showing black faces getting arrested, when a non-dark skinned person does the same.....What no pictures no videos. Its keep low key. If you are truly a black person (WHICH I THINK YOUR NOT YOU NEED TO STUDY THINGS OTHER THAN MAURY AND JERRY.)

It comes down to apartheid which existed in the US during the 60's where Black people were classed as second class citizens who had no rights whatsoever against their bigoted white neighbours. They did exactly what they were told or they paid dearly for it. Therefore they needed an identity something more than their shameful links to America as it existed then. So, that is why they so closely link with Africa because that is where their forefathers came from, where they had pride, status and a good quality of life. This was what civil rights activists wanted to fill black US people with, a sense of pride and belonging, so they could learn to fight for what is theirs. Now we are over a generation later, kids have grown up without that fear and self loathing and thus the reason the question needs to be even asked.

LOL... Well I think everyone wants to show pride for there heritage and what not, but living in America that can sometimes be confusing.... Being raised in the USA it's tough to truly represent when all of us have been surrounded by such a diverse multy cultural experience. So I believe people grasp on to the notion of black = Africa, white = Europe brown = Mexico and so on.... It's easy-er and more impressive. Some might argue that they are truly linked to there home land and therefor must return in order to complete the circle Which is cool, but come on! U were born in a suburb, got that new bike for Christmas, went to prom with old whats her *uck, partied all through collage, and finally went to work for your old man..... And ummmm by the way, I believe those very opportunities were the very reason great grandpappy decided to stick around instead of going back... But what do I know?

I think that number is very small -- unfortunately it is also very vocal.

The average black American has much more in common with someone in Sandpoint, Idaho than they do with a Nigerian or Kenyan.

The few that I have heard espouse this are those who feel slighted here, and are generally those with an entitlement mentality. I can't imagine those who work for a living and have struggled to put their children through college saying such a ridiculous thing.

People get mad when you point out the obvious to them. Leave them be, I'm Irish, maybe I should go back to the "Motherland". They don't want my American *** there.
