snake ( I think that is you meant) = fear
being chased = being criticized.

It may mean you are being criticized by some fear or high authority. And the snake know what your hiding place was means you are insecure about things and people around you.
By projecting snake in your dream shows you that subconsciously you have fear about something

I believe that dreams definitely do have meaning. I do not believe, however, that they have meaning in the way that you are asking. You are asking if they effect anything in the world, directly. As in, will something occur in the world directly BECAUSE of the dream itself. And to answer this, I'd say no, dreams cannot directly influence what happens in the world.

I do believe, however, that dreams can influence things in the world indirectly (this is kind of obvious. Don't worry, I have more to say later!). Of course if someone dreams something and is convinced that the dream is important, the dream will impact their decision making in real time events. An example of this is dreaming about taking a certain course next year in school (or something. I'm drawing a bit of a blank). When you are faced with the choice of what courses you will be taking next year, that dream may influence you to take the course that you were dreaming about (or to not take it, depending on the content of the dream). Things like that. So I'd consider that meaning.

I also believe that dreams are just your subconscious sort of relaying what it is thinking about to your conscious self (you aren't really able to be aware of it at the time of course. conscious and unconscious stuff gets kind of complicated. I won't get into that.) This means that the dreams definitely have meaning, as they are relaying information about what your subconscious is spending time on, and thus is sort of like having a second brain. Or something.

So to answer your question, "Do dreams really have any meaning?", YES! Dreams definitely DO have meaning. But to answer your sub question regarding if dreams can predict the future or cause the future, no I do not believe that dreams have any direct effect of things that occur in real life.

Great question! Really got me thinking ;)

"Hi starnight_gurl84!
Hope you can solve that dream. IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT! You're under a lot of pressure. It's difficult to figure out what to do first or who to trust. Gosh, all of us feel that way sometimes. Your not alone!
Try hard to get along better with your parents. Then, make sure to take care of school work. Friends are next. Keep making friends because there are some good people out there who might be perfect for friendship.
Kinda get things in an order ... you know----First to do, second to do and third to do.
I looked up dream symbols on google. There's a lot about big shakes. You can beat 'em! They can't find you and they can't harm you anymore
Go to google and look up "snake dreams."
Don't forget your strong and resourceful. Nobody's gonna be able to outsmart you. You've got what it takes!"

Snakes are symbolic of different things. Your dream of the dead child inside the snake sounds like a classic dream of the snake being a symbol of transformation. Snakes are often seen as symbols of life, death and rebirth. In North American native tribes, the shedding of the snake's skin is associated with life and a new beginning.

In writing about Snake Symbolism, Gillian Holloway, Ph.D. wrote, "People who are dying or who have lost a loved one often dream of snakes, at or near the time of death. For whatever reason, these dreams seem involved with the psychic awareness of the transition from this life to the next...."

There are several theories about dreams. One is that your mind is trying to process the information which doesn't quite fit with the other information and has to get rid of it somehow. Another is Freud, of course, mentioned above. As well as a few others: http://www.mythsdreamssymbols.com/dreamtheories.html.

Here's a dream dictionary, should you be interested:

Personally, I've found signficance in some of my dreams but not others. I think that dream interpretation is up to you.

Dreams often mean something, but there is no dictionary of universal meanings for dream images. Ok, well there is, but its all that Jung crap. Your dream images mean something completely different than someone elses dream image, even if they are of the same snake. Dreams are much more about feeling than visual images. How does the image make you feel? are you afraid of snakes? evidently, or you wouldn't hide.
