They believe in utilizing diplomacy in and prior to extreme political activities. They specifically would prefer multilateral efforts versus unilateral ones utilizing allies and UN versus going it alone. Unfortunately, there was only so much Powell could do from the State Department...

Why is one is called a terrorists or liberal communists if you speak out and oppose the policies of the Bush administration?
There is no connection to the terms: terrorists, Communists and liberals in the first place.
This goes to show how the rights of the individual have been eroded by the so called Patriot Act. This still democracy the last time I looked and not Theocracy of Bush and company.

Some of the people here might feel Atila the Hun was too liberal also. You will encounter a number of very angry and vexed posts responding to questions like this. Not just Powell and McCain, but Graham, Snowe, Warner and more in the House are starting to balk at giving George Jr. free reign.

No, no more than Neville Chamberlain was. Just gravely mistaken about how to protect us, or whether we need protection at all.
Is George Bush a fascist, greedy, power-mad, warmongering fiend, for agreeing with Clinton, Gore, Kerry, etc. that Saddam was a threat and using surveillance and interrogation techniques that, if anything, are more mild than what FDR used? Apparently the far left - a substantial portion of the leadership of the Democrat party - says so.
Interesting how you come to Powell and McCain's defense, and not Bush's, from these insults.
It took WWII for Chamberlain to change his mind. What will it take for Powell and McCain? I tremble to contemplate . . .

I am a democrat and a Vietnam Vet who would have voted for McCain until he turned into a whack job on immigration. As far as torture his mind was f'ed up by the VC and he can't think straight. Cut him some slack or lock youself in a closet with a bowl of rice and a bucket to poop in for the next five years.

that seems to be the general idea with anyone who dares question the administration... it's getting a bit silly at this point... I think there are more terrorist loving commies than Americans in America now... according to their calculations...

Oh lord, leave it to the far right. They (Powell and McCain) might just be trying to prove that one can have principles beyond partisan politics. Also, they seem to think for themselves, unlike the herd-like extreme right.

No. They are just two people that have the intelligence to see through what the current administration is doing to this country.
Republicans: Is it a horrible feeling to know you are supporting the very "terrorists" you speak ill of?
