At the task bar, there's this message that keeps popping up telling me my hard disk is low and when I click on it, it cleans up unwanted things in drive C. After that, it's still critically low. I have approx. 13.9GB in my drive C and now I am left with only 31.0MB - even after cleaning.

I was thinking is it possible to change it to my drive D since I have approx. 41.9GB space and 29.7GB is free.

Can anyone give me suggestions / ideas to solve this problem?? What would you recommend me to do? Please please help me...

you should move the file manually, coz the cleans up process that run by the windows is only delete the cookie files or the temporary files..it's a very small files. so you need to move some of or your file manually to your drive D or delete the files you don't need anymore.

You can move the files that's not belongs to any program, like music files, movie files, or your documents, pictures, etc.

You have around 14 GB space on C: but you are still low on space. The reason is too many files are loaded onto the C: drive. Since this can happen due to virus also first go to trend micro systems website and perform an online virus scan it is free. After concluding that you do not have any virus then transfer all your data files and other files that have not been installed but only copied, to D:. This would give you definetly release enough space for you because no installed programs would occupy more than 5 gb and therefore most probably all the space has been occupied by your data files like movie files.

A few things that might help in that perspective are

Change the default location of the My Documents folder by following these steps. It helps rid of the windows drive clogging up with more files and space:
1.Click Start, and then point to My Documents.

2.Right-click My Documents, and then click Properties.

3.Click the Target tab.

4.In the Target box, do one of the following:
-->Type the path to the folder location that you want, and then click OK. For example, D:\My Stuff.

If the folder does not exist, the Create Message dialog box is displayed. Click Yes to create the folder, and then click OK.

-or-

--->Click Move, click the folder in which to store your documents, and then click OK twice.

If you need to create a new folder, click Make New Folder. Type a name for the folder, and then click OK twice.

5. In the Move Documents box, click Yes to move your documents to the new location, or click No to leave your documents in the original location.

Next you can try clearing your
%systemroot%\documents and settings\\local settings\temp
-and-
%systemroot%\documents and settings\\local settings\temporary internet files

Some of the files in the temp wouldnt delete because they might be used by your OS so dont worry, the rest can be deleted and also any other folder under the or
Any error or message that it shows up dont worry, just clear it, coz your system will be free a bit more.

Another one is emptying of the rollback folders for all the updates done. You can delete them from your windows folder they start with $KB and uninst so you can take them out to save more space but remember once you do that you cannot uninstall the updates at a future time...Do it only if your system is working/ been working fine for a while...

These are a few tips after which you can try to defragment your drive
-->Start/All programs/accessories/system tools/disk defragmenter

Then before you start it remember to disable your screensaver and turn off your power saving settings. Once you complete this exercise it should be up and running great....Also if problems persist it is wise to use a anti-spy program and antivirus program.

you could go to a computer store and buy more hard drive... like a disk that you slide into the back.... its pretty easy
I guess you could move things to drive D
But you still have alot of the disk taken up
Maybe you should remove some programs that you dont use. You cant just throw them in the recylce bin you have to go to add/remove programs or personally go to that program and uninstall it.

I would suggest buying more RAM
go to a computer store

your hard drive is full, only you and God know why.
if you can't bring yourself to dump a big load
then spend money on an upgrade.
btw, you can reduce the space occupied by your recycle bin and also your temporary files folder.
if you have less than 512Mb of RAM you should upgrade that as well.
in response to your added comments: you probably should have restarted your computer after deleting all that stuff, then empty the recycle bin, then restart again. that should clear the "low on space" warning.

Well, since the OS (windows xp) is installed on C: , you can't move it over to D: .. .I would just move all non-programs, like music, pictures, videos, to the D drive, and every time you install a new program, make sure to install it on D:
