And can it be read on a computer with only a CD Drive?

No, you need a DVD burner to be able to burn information to a DVD. If you only have a CD burner you will need to put them on a CD instead. DVD drives use a thinner laser that stand-alone CD drives do not have.

Think about your question - you can't do something unless your computer has the ability to do it!

CD Drives DO NOT read DVDs. Go play a DVD in your CD player - if's not a DVD player as well, you CAN'T!

i think it depends on what you are saving. i have a cd reader writer only and i put all my pictures on cds and they can be viewed on a cd only computer. also my taxes are backed up on cds. you cant use a blank dvd but a blank cd can hold those things. is that what you mean?
