Teens now I believe are wearing less clothes now than ever before. Both males and females are exposeing their underwear. Females especially are showing more.

I think since the begining of time parents have not liked or understood what their children are wearing and why....But it seems that teenagers are getting more scantily clad as the decades go by. It might seem like they should say something. But now more than ever b4 there is the generation of lax parenting most kids are free to wear whatever. Things that once wouldnt have been thought of a teen wearing is the norm. My mother taught me to carry myself with class and that what i wear in most cases determines what ppl think of me without even knowing me. So even if we disagree she knows i would never wear anything too hoeish. I plan to teach my children the same.

Yeah, I agree. What I find more disgusting is that these clothes are being marketed toward younger and younger girls. Have you heard about the padded bra that has been designed for girls as young as 6 (!!!) to make it look like they have little boobs?! It's dumbfounding. So many kids already have to grow up too fast, let's not speed it up any more. It is hard being a teenager though, if you don't go along with what's in fashion then according to the popular kids, you're not cool. And being popular seems like a very important thing in high school - even though once you get older you realise it's not. But then again, you can be fashionable without being too revealing, I manage to do it. I guess teens just try to dress like the pop stars that they're into or something. Anyway, fashion is becoming more ladylike again so hopefully this revealing trend will pass soon.

LOL @ Jennifer M
Too funny (and true)

I think that while parents will complain, there isn't much they can do. Yes, styles have gotten more and more revealing than before, but there have been several times in recent history that the clothing was just as bad in it's own way. Parents will always disagree with popular teen styles, and teens will continue to wear them.

I just hope that in the next 10 years there is a major fashion change (for the better) so I don't have to worry about it with my two. They are still little, so I still have a say in what they wear :-)

ABSOLUTELY!
The clothing today is nothing but advertising, and I am not talking about the clothing lables. To have words written across ones behind is a blatent suggestion of "stare at my butt," and yet no one seems to find that as a discusting goal. Modesty is NO MORE. AND I believe so many young people are having sex so early because they are so used to being naked around each other. When all that is covered is your most private areas, then the idea of taking your clothes off in front of some strange boy is so much easier. I am scared for our young people!

well as parents, they should be the ones controlling how their teens dress, to an extent. obviously, the simple solution is not buying them the smaller, tighter, lower fitting clothes. if the teen has a job and is purchasing the items with their own money, then the parent, i think, can have no say. the only thing they can do in that situation is try to encourage their teen(s) to purchase appropriate fitting clothing. I tink parens shouldnt be so controlling and let their kids express themselves. i think that the more a parent tries to control a child, the more a child will want to rebel against them.

No; every generation dresses so as to shock the previous one, and declare that THEY are different, and independent. When present-day adults were teens, they dressed as rebelliously as their children now do; the styles may have been different, but the intent was the same.

It's the style that is in right now. People who don't like it can complain all they want but it's not going to change anything cause we live in America and people are free to dress how they want as long as they got clothes on.

Hm, that's interesting.
Where I'm at layering is pretty popular right now among young adults.
And now if you're female and wear shorts/a short skirt it's fashionable to wear tights or leggings underneath.

I don't understand why boys expose their underwear...but yeah when i was in high school my group used to make fun of them....as for girls, i think the ones who are zero from inside try to attract guys by exposing. crackheads! and yeah, teens who have more slutty moms n dads or those who have no idea of who their biological mom or dad is are more prone to doing this.
