Okay, all the fan friendly BS aside. Right now there are maybe three legit heisman contenders:

Ol' Tabasco Peterson - OU - The guy is a stud. Like the dude said, he probably should've won it his freshman year. I hate OU (being a Texas fan and all) but I can't even hate on this kid, he is the truth. But then again, he is from Texas.
Stats: 90 rushes, 515 yards, 4 TDs; 1 reception, 69 yards, 1 TD

Troy Smith - tOSU - He's been playing like a bad ***. The huge win over my Longhorns only helped him. If he can play like he has been, and lead tOSU to an undefeated season, I think it's his.
Stats: 56 of 81 passing, 769 yards, 7 TDs

Steve Slaton - WVU - This guy is tearing shxt up. He has almost as many yards as Tabasco, but with 30 fewer carries, and more TDs. If WVU goes undefeated, which is entirely possible with their schedule, Slaton will be getting alot of heisman talk at the end of the season.
Stats: 62 rushes, 503 yards, 6 TDs

I could see Chris Leak on the radar, but if he's sharing snaps with Tebow (who'se going to be a stud for UF) then it'll be hard for him to compete with the stats Slaton, Smith & Peterson will put up. And I don't think you can count Brady Quinn out, if they run the rest of the table, they'll easily end up in a BCS bowl game, and likely even the National Title game if there's only one (or none) undefeated teams. A huge rest of the season out of Quinn will be aided by the fact that he's QB at Notre Dame, and he could still pull it out.

Heisman voters love to put the QB of an undefeated team in there no matter how good he is. Unfortunately for Adrian Peterson in this case, Troy Smith may not only go undefeated, but he has been awesome this year. Ohio State will play more teams in the top 25 than Peterson this year, and if Troy Smith and the Buckeyes keep winning and he keeps playing well, he would be in the top spot. I do agree with you that Adrian Peterson should have won it his first season.

I agree Peterson probably should have won after his freshman year. If Ohio State goes undefeated and Troy Smith continues to be a huge part of that success, I think the award goes to him this year. Peterson has a much better chance for an All-Pro future in the NFL than Troy Smith and could be the no.1 draft choice in the NFL draft in my humble opinion. When you look at some of the previous Heisman winners and how they have done in the NFL, I think of Ron Dayne, Eric Crouch, and Chris Weinke. Troy Smith, if chosen for the Heisman could add to that recent list of Heisman winners not very well suited to the pro game.

If Adrian Peterson goes over 200 yards again, he'll get it for sure... but if Ohio State keeps winning Troy Smith is the man to beat out... followed by Ted Ginn. The Heisman committee loves to have 2 players from the same school in the running for it.

Adrian is the bomb! I saw him in San Diego for the holiday bowl in a tank top and he is ripped. Wow, I'm a grown woman and I have to say he is built. Anyway back to the Heisman, he has talent beyond, desire beyond, and the most accomidating to his fans. He was getting so many things to sign at the holiday bowl luncheon and didn't turn anyone away from a photo shot or autograph. I love this kid.... I plan on wathcing him play on Sundays for a long time. Go Adrian.

I agree with you, it will be Adrian Peterson. And yes, he should have won it his freshman season. I'm not a Sooners fan, but Peterson is just phenomenal.
