foetus start to urinate in the third month(11 weeks).kidney start working and starting to produce urine, which baby excretes into the amniotic fluid.right now theres only about an ounce of amniotic fluid.First the fluid is produced by the amniotic membrane.its clear and slightly yellow.it contains water some nutrients, and a few skin cells.Later as baby continues to grow ,amniotic fluid is made up mostly of fetal urine.the urine doesnt bother the baby at all.
The fetus breathes in and swallows some amniotic fluid .This helps baby develop the ability to breathe and swallow .

If I remember correctly the baby will start to urinate somewhere around 16 or 18 weeks (can't remember exactly) The baby urinates into the amniotic fluid which replaces its self every 3-4 hours. (Where the old fluid goes I am not quite sure).
I stumbled across a great website that every week will send you an e-mail with how far along you are and what is going on with the baby that week. Also has tip for you.

fetuses make urine as soon as they are old enough to swallow amniotic fluid. The urine goes in the fluid which is filtered by the mom. Urine is sterile when it comes out and since it is in a vacumn so to speak, it does not grow germs etc.

from what i've read, the baby does let out some urine, but it's not like what we do... it's from the amniotic fluid he or she swallows allowing the little kidneys and bladder to practice for the real thing in the outside world. ... it just cycles back into the amniotic fluid.. this is what i read in a book b/c i was curious too

the fetus starts to urinate when the urinary tract system becomes fully developed (I think this occurs around the 7th month in-utero. The urine joins with the amniotic fluid inside the bag of waters.

I'm not sure when but the fluid they float in is where the pee goes. They will drink and breathe it in and out. The fluid is replaced something like every 24 hours. But basicly they are floating in their pee.
"Most of the fluid in amniotic fluid is contributed to by fetal urine. This is then reabsorbed by the membranes and umbilical cord and the turnover is pretty fast—a couple of hours. So it's possible to have differing amounts of amniotic fluid from one day to the next, even from one hour to the next."

All nutrients enter the fetus through the umbilical cord, all wastes leave through the umbilical cord. On rare occasion an infant will pass meconium DURING labor, but before s/he is actually born. When this happens, there is a chance that some of it could be inhaled, and that can cause some problems, but that's rare and shouldn't worry you.
