I can't say why we can't get along but you are totally correct in what you say. The Republican religious right has created a culture of hate and fear. In my opinion this country, and the ideals it was founded on, are in much more danger from them than any terrorist group.

Separation of church and state is a concept that, simply put, insures that no government can "impose" a religious ideal upon the citizens it governs. Simple, Yes?

No religious symbols on Federal property? Great. Let's all meet at Arlington and other Federal cemeteries tomorrow and remove all the crosses and stars of David marking the graves of those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that any and all claptrap can be issued here with no fear of reprisal.

Years ago I use to be proud to call myself a Republican worked for the party and supported there cause. In 1980 when Reagan became president and the party drifted to far right and was taken over by the likes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and other far right bigots of hate the party left me behind.

They claim to be party of Big Tent to be open to all but when enter the tent you must prove your loyalty to the party, pro gun, pro life, anti environment, for capital punishment, anti gay, school vouchers, homeschooling and support for the war to name few.

Moderates in the party are not welcomed for there views because of the influence of the religious right.

The believe in individual rights but want to pass a constitutional amendment to define marriage and flag burning. They wasted time dealing with moral issues while ignoring important pieces of legislation.

Party politics will never unite. By their very nature, they divide. If you're looking for unity, you're looking in the wrong place. The terms conservative and liberal also divide. You won't find any possibility of unity by identifying yourself as either. Name-calling, also, does not bring about unity.

There is something that exists that has the power to unite the nations, races and religions, and bring peace and brotherhood to earth. Please look into my source for that which unites; doesn't divide, as party politics does.

The welfare state is not the answer. It has been shown time and time again to fail. The government is already too large. Taxes are already too high (there were NO taxes preior to 1900).

To me there are really NO candidates or parties who are willing to make changes to these problems. As a result, things will continue the suicide spiral of doom. Be prepared for it. I am....

Ok, I'm a Christian Conservative and I will begin by asking, how are you today? I would like you to know that I do not hate you nor do I want to convert you to my religion. I respectfully disagree with your views on abortion and the ACLU. I would also like to respectfully ask you why there are so many liberals on here who continually post questions espousing hatred for our president, our religion and our views? I know this sounds stupid, but I know from experience that talking like this normally doesn't work with democrats...Watch I will be attacked.

You seem to confuse conservatives with the religious right, a small part of conservatives. There are many conservatives who are pro choice, pro tolerance, pro the founding fathers, pro seperation of church and state. They are called Libertarians.

I am a conservative who hates Justice William O. Douglas and I have great admiration and respect for Justice Hugo L. Black. And they were both liberals.

As the saying goes, I don't hate you but I hate what you've said.

Again with the separation of church and state! Read the Constitution! The idea of separation of church and state came from a private letter written by Thomas Jefferson. It's not part of the Constitution and never was part of it. It's the Liberals who are trying to add it.
