You should talk to them about it. They probably accept weekly, bi-weekly or up-front payments. Or else - I don't understand your question.
I prefer to work with private studios, not with "chains" - you get more for your buck. Private studios usually don't try to sell you packages and extra stuff that you don't want. But if Fred Astaire is the best one in your area - go for it.

Actually, it was a long time ago, but I actually was a student at a Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Central Fl. First of all, it can be very expensive, and they do try to get you to take packages that include private lessons, group lessons and dance parties. Be honest and up front (this is what I did) with the manager/finance person there and say what your budget is. Usually, they will work out some arrangement with you as they NEED to keep you to keep the studio afloat. Private lessons usually cost the most, try to get a package where you combine a few private lessons with more of the group classes (you'd be surprised at how much one on one training there is, if few people show up to the class) and the dance parties which are sooo much fun and really give you a way to obtain confidence and poise that you have mastered what you learn. You can go online to find cheaper shoes and for the necessary dancewear. Also, if you scour consignment shops and believe it or not Goodwill shoppes, sometimes you can also find dancewear inexpensively.
Look at it this way, dancing is something you will always have to remember, it's great exercise, and you meet lots of people. Yes, you may have to sacrifice other things like eating out frequently and those cups of coffee at Starbucks, but I found that it was very worth it!! Make sure that you do too, before you plunk down your check or credit card!!! Good Luck!!
