im assigned coordinator for one big charity event in my job that happen annually during this time period. our goal is more than 2k for 42 people, some of them are tight on their pocket, any suggestion on approaching others? any idea will help, thanks...

1. raffle tickets 50/50 or special donated prizes
2. bingo event or lottery
3. snack/candie/cookie/pie/hoagie sale. can coordinate with local vendors.
4. spagetti dinner and dance
5. car wash if weather permissible. better during the spring.
6. various competitions that locals may be interested in.
7. auction of various help for the day. auction off a bachelor/bachelorette
8. sell various arts, crafts, etc. done by specific people to help your organization.
9. chinese auction

its good to keep in mind the season too. columbus day and halloween are around the corner. Try and be specific with your target audience. If you have the right vision and the right support, you'll be fine.

I would have a "Challenge Cup." Have different events such as basketball toss, golf putting, Karaoke, trivia, etc. Some physical and some mental events. You will need about 10 events and each event is assigned points.. 500 for first; 250 for second; 100 for third. Also, for every dollar contributed, you get 1 point. The person who earns the most points gets the "Challenge Cup" Trophy.
