land use is consistant with population density.

Deserts and mountains have very low poulation density. Farmland has low density. Towns and industrial areas have middling density. Large cities have high density.

The relationship between population and land use is, basically, that the greater the population, the greater the misuse of land. Prime agricultural land (flat, arable land) is taken up with residential sites, commercial sites and industrial sites. What's left for agricultural use is often the rocky hillsides, and the difficult to access valleys.
And no, I won't use a map. Check it out yourself.

Easy. The greater the population- the greater the land use (and that includes the amount of land used to sustain it- agriculturally, & with raw materials).

POpulation increases, land use categories increases, land use pattern changes, alteration land is positively related to population growth.
