There are a few reasons:
1. It is a propaganda scare tactic to make Christians ashamed to be democratic.
2. It is a method to rally the religious base. Most of them won't even ask questions if they are convinced it is the religious against the nonreligious.
3. Divide then conquer is an election method Rove has been using for over 30 years to win elections.
You and I know that real Christians try to be as Jesus whom was as liberal as they come.

Wow- talking about asking a loaded question.
If you believe that any one party is has more morals and Christianity over the other - you must be fed Faux News on a baisis - - - - or perhaps you hang out with people like TexMan?
His thread shows the problem. He, as a Republican spews out filth and nastiness, and yet claims to be the religious one.
They are almost all like that. Real Religious, huh?
Democrats are just as Christian and (as anyone knows) are much more morale - - - but Democrats don't go around trying to use their religion for political profrit-
And that is the difference and the only difference-
Think about Tom DeLay, Jack Abramoff, Bob Ney and others who are all off to jail soon. All talk - All lies.
Sad, aren't they? I am glad you're a Democrat! :o) xoxoxo!!!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ What type of Church is telling you that you cannot be a Democrat and Christian? The minister at our church is a very progressive Christian and everyone -- Democrats, Repubs, Independents & Greens are welcome!
:O) ~~~

Many good points and there are a few good answers and a couple of bad ones. The one who thinks they coverd all your points is doing nothing but sticking religion back into the answer otherwise defying (seperation of church and state). Democrats believe in this seperation and the fact that EVERYONE should be treated equally without descrimination. Republicans like bringing religion into the view and the Christian beleif depending on how you take it is one of the most descriminatory religions in the world. I take it as knowing right and wrong and how to seperate the hard questions. Not everyone has a great family who can help take care of them in a time of need and those programs are to help the poor and to help the sick and to help people in general. Republicans want to get rid of those people because they are some of the ones who oppose them. If they had their way it would be nothing but illegals and rich white men in this country.

You are absolutely correct; God does want us to take care of widows and orphans, so why don't we? Why push off that biblical obligation to the government? If the church did their part in helping the less fortunate, the government wouldn't need to tax Christians for something they could do five times more cost efficiently than a huge governmental bureaucracy.
As far as who I would choose to take the life from, it wouldn't be an innocent baby that hasn't committed one single sin. I'm far more pleased with the fact that Timothy McVey and Saddam's henchmen are dead than a mother's preborn infant.
Privacy was never promised in the U.S. Constitution. The vast majority of people in the U.S. are in favor of the Patriot Act. Even the Democrats don't vote against it. We are fighting a savage enemy that will stoop to unthinkable lows to murder us, an enemy that would take tens of thousands of American lives at once. I would like to know as much as I can about them to prevent that from happening.
There is only one way to heaven. The path is not divided. There is no room for various opinions about which principles in life are right and which are wrong. There are a set of rules we must all follow if we want to be saved. Non believers tend to think we can do anything we want. The Democratic party, by definition, is a coalition of all walks of life with vastly different philosophies of what is right and wrong. I'm not going so far as to say that you can't be a Christian and a Democrat simultaneously, but most Atheists would never be a Republican (Religious Right). Howard Dean refers to Republicans as the party of white Christians.

Because they are immoral and Anti-Christian in their policies. Lib-socialsts like restricting prayer, the mention of God, killing unborn babies, promoting secular benefits, and immoral sexual behavior. I think I covered all your points.
The death penalty is punishment for doing something horrendous, not for being born. Secular benefits are a way out of requiring people to be responsible for themselves and allowing people to be cared for by their families. Orphans always had a home in Christian homes. Marriage is based through religion yet government intrusion has made it a political issue. I don't need to go on. You seem to be a confused lib-socialist.

I agree with you 100%. They are both wrong, just in different ways. Personally I'm pro-life, against the death penalty, against the war cause it's not justified, for the environment, for the unions and the workers, against gay marriage, for universal medical care, and for worker protection programs and against illegal immigration to name a few.

Alright... first things first
I am quite aware what the bible says in regards to charity (ex.
"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?" )
However, it is not the responsibility of the government to hand out my money for me.
second. Read genesis 4:11-15
in regards to the sacred life issue
Maybe when its not 1 AM i will elaborate further
PS Although I share many conservative beliefs tied to the republican party, I myself am an atheist...sorry to disappoint

Conservatives are trying to hold on to the only things they have left, which makes them act very extreme, very much like the Islamic extremists. Both want to impose their beliefs on the rest of us "before it's too late".
Conservatives have never been very freedom-oriented. They have a certain view of the world and how they want to see it. It's like the Gay marriage issue. Gay marriage is a form of freedom but it contradicts Christians' beliefs.

Good points!
Me, I am proud to be both a Democrat and a Christian. The Republicans are too arrogant and neglectful of the poor and the elderly for my taste.
