I don't know if this is related to what you're referring to, but 20 - 25 years ago a band called "Three Dog Night' did a song called, 'Never Been to Spain". The third verse sounds similar to your question.
Don't know if that's what you're thinking about, but check it out.
Well I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it
Well I never been to England
But I kinda like the Beatles
Well, I headed for Las Vegas
Only made it out to Needles
Can you feel it
It must be real
It Feels so good
Oh, feels so good
Well I never been to Heaven
But I been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter
Whoa, I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it
Well I never been to Heaven
But I been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter
p.s. I've never been to heaven, Paris, OR Oklahoma

The only place that I've heard it is from the Three Dog Night song also. Listening to the song, it's saying it doesn't matter where you are. No place is better than the other. Most people would pick being in Paris or Spain than Oklahoma. But, in the song, he doesn't care where he's at. It sounds to me that he's happy wherever he is and doesn't need to be in a so called wonderful place to be happy.
The real meaning, you should make the best of your life with what you've got, it doesn't
matter who or where you are.

It's part of an old vaudeville routine. When someone talks about going to Paris, the country hick replies, "I've never been to Paris, but I've been to Oklahoma." The first reference is to Paris, France, but the second reference is to Paris, Illinois. The joke is that the country bumpkin doesn't know about Paris, France, but does know about Paris, Illinois.
I guess you had to be there....
