why! do u ask?
well, a rectangle's(1) opposite sides are equal and(2) all angles are 90 degrees.in a square,four sides are equal and all angles are 90.So,a sqre fulfills both conditions(1) and(2) of a rectangle.

"Every square is a rectangle but every rectangle is not a square." A rectangle has a pair of opposite sides that are equal in length. It is true in case of every square, as the all its sides are equal. But since a square has 4 equal sides, it may not be true for every rectangle as some rectangles have a pair of opposite sides longer in length as compared to the other two sides.............................hope you got the idea. sorry if u didnt
