product:
3 * 7/8 + 3/4*7/8 = 21/8 + 21/32 = 2 5/8 + 21/32 = 3 9/32
quotient:
3*8/7 + 3/4*8/7 = 24/7 + 6/7 = 3 3/7 + 6/7 = 4 2/7
changing into improper fraction would be much easier.

Without using improper fractions?
3.75 * 0.875 =
convert the decimal portion of the answer back into a fraction.
There are TWO quotients of 3 3/4 and 7/8.
Again resorting to decimals,
3.75 / 0.875 =
and
0.875 / 3.75 =
Returning either of these answers to fractional form is an interesting exercise in itself, especially the 1st one.
Maintaining fractional form and permitting improper fractions along the way, you have:
(7/8)*(3+3/4) = 3*7/8 + 3*7/(4*8) =
(3+3/4)/(7/8) = 3*8/7+3*8/(4*7) =
(7/8)/(3+3/4) = 7/(3*8+3*8/4) =

3.75*0.825=3.09788 or 105/32 (or your 3 9/32). You could use a calculator, but what's wrong with improper fractions? In my math classes, you are encouraged to leave it as a improper fraction because it makes it easier for future calculations. But, yeah, I admit to doing improper-fraction work in my head on the 105/32. Were you just trying to make your life difficult?
