I have a few books going at the moment. I am reading Anne McCaffrey's Skies of Pern, for the umpteenth time. I am never far away from Pern all I have to do is pick up a book. I am also reading Chicken soup for the parents soul, this is the first time for thisd book, not really my kind of book though. I am also reading HTML for beginners, because I am quite obviously learning HTML lol. Oh and lastly I have begun reading this book someone gave me called He chose the nails by Max Lucado, it is a Christian book and I feel compelled to read it because it was a gift, well see how far I get into it. What are you reading?

I am reading the Dune series by Frank Herbert. I'm not finding it particularly enthralling. It's a bit of a hard slog. What I will recommend though is the Assassin trilogy, the Liveship Trader trilogy and another trilogy including the books Fool's Errand, Golden Fool and Fool's Fate all by Robin Hobb. These trilogies are all related to each other and they just get better and better. The characters are completely involving - I am totally in love with the character called the Fool and the relationship that the Fool has with the main character is beautiful. They are all totally enthralling excellent books with something for everybody. I think I'm about to give up on Dune and read these again because I miss them!! Magician by Raymond E Feist is also a bloody fantastic book, my friend has read it about 10 times, seriously.

Unfortunately the two that I am currently reading I just started so I don't know if I should recommend them yet. Truth with Jokes by Al Franken which makes me chuckle so far so I guess I would recommend it and Fiasco by Thomas Ricks but I am only on the first chapter so I don't know yet.
I am also finishing Underworld by Graham Hancock which I would highly recommend but you should read Fingerprints of the Gods first which, along with Guns, Germs and Steel really changed my way of thinking about the world.
For fun any of John Shwartzwelder's books. They are very short and sweet.
I still enjoy Stephen King from now and then but have't read him in a while.
Vonnegut, Welsh, Bukowski, Rollins, Mathiessen and Kundera are always good,
Also, I have been picking at The Great Ideas by Adler that is really great.

The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks and yes I would recommend it as it is most like an updated version of Orwell's 1984. Excellent read so far. Next I will be reading Matthew Reilly's book about the Great Pyramid in Egypt which is a mystery/thriller.

Paradise Lost:
I would recommend it only if you have the time to devote to it and it is one of the great classics in the English language that everyone should read--here I am already pontificating but give it a shot-also read Moby Dick but on the other hand you should also be aware of lesser known writers who have been overlooked.

No I would not recommend it. Strange answer, but true. I am reading something that someone wrote that is very specialized. It is a very flat book. It is giving me ideas, but does not hold the attention well and it not dynamic.
If you mention what kinds of books you like people might be able to recommend for you. There are tons of classics, modern novels, historical and non fiction books that are great to read. Reading is good this is a great question.
Do not forget your public library. You do not have to pay for books there and amazon.com has tons of used books.

The 4th edition of "The Costliest Watch Brands". I recommend it. Did you ever wonder which watch brands are costliest? Many people imagine, for no good reason, that Rolex is the costliest watch brand, but it's far down the list. For example, the most basic dress watch in gold with leather strap by Rolex costs $3650. Is that costly? I have a comparable Vacheron Constantin that costs $11,500 or 3.15 times as much as the Rolex. I also have a $13,850 Patek Philippe. Its price is 3.79 times as much as the Rolex. The book has many lists of specific types of watches arranged in order of price.

Wicked: The Life And Times Of The Wicked Witch Of The West by Gregory Maguire.
Do I recommend it? No. Too sexual. Not what I expected at all.
