I would try and talk to him first and let him know how you feel about what he is saying. Whether he considers you an immigrant or not you are and he needs to accept that and stop putting you down. When he puts them down hes putting you down also. If he loves you and respects you then he'll understand and hopefully you two can work things out but if he doesn't then you need to let him go and find someone else who will truely love you and respect you and your beliefs. All you can do it try and hope for the best( you stay together) but expect the worse(you breakup). good luck

He doesn't necessarily have to agree with your thought on matters. However, he should definitely take your opinions into consideration and respect you & what you believe in.
TALK to him.
If he continues to put immigrants down & disrespects what you stand for then tell him things can't work between you because he's hurting you.
However, if you are pursuing a career in politics, you'd want someone who's willing to back you up and support you & what you believe in...
There's plenty of fish in the sea!!! If it doesn't work out between you two, it's not the end of the world. But do try to talk things through first. No point of just throwing away 3yrs.

Dump him. If he doesn't "see you" as an "immigrant" then he doesn't really see you. You're proud of who you are, but he sounds like he doesn't even notices who you are.
And after dating someone for three years, and he still puts down immigrants in front of you and doesn't get why that offends you, he's not going to change.
And p.s. I'm from Virginia and that doesn't give him a right to be a douche.

My only thoughts are Mary Madelyn and James Carville. You're probably familiar, but they both make their livings in politics. He is as far left liberal democrat as he can be. A real attack dog, and she is about as far right conservative as she can be. I don't know what these two can possibly agree on, being that their entire lives revolve around undermining the career and party of the other one, but they have been happily married for over 10 years now. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on their wall?

If this topic is that important to you then you need to do what your heart tells you. My mother is from Mexico and has been in this country for 29 yrs. Never once did my father make comments on the imigration subject. He respected who she was and where she was from. Is this something that you want children (that you might have later) exposed to? If you are planning on making a career out of this and it gets you far then how can you have a husband that seems very against your views supporting you later in life.

Sounds to me like a poor reason to leave a guy, isn't he more important to you than your views on politics which aren't really politics at all.
He is entitled to his view as you are yours, don't try and change the person you fell in love with, with the person you think he should become, if that's what you have in mind he is better off without you, and should look for someone who will love him with faults and everything it is called unconditional love. This is what is needed for long term relationship. You can always agree to disagree on the topic.

Break it off. It may not be a major focus point to most but it is to you. Give your relationship the respect it deserves, then move on to someone who respects your views even if they dont agree with them.
