There was a music video for it where a soldier is coming or leaving to war. The soldier has tears in his eyes, and I think he had a son or daughter and a wife for sure. I can't remember the song though...

There's a newish country song, by a guy about a soldier. Dixie Chicks had one, about Vietnam. Green day, as was mentioned.
