So I was sitting in class the other day trying to tear open my starbucks coffee when I jerked my elbow backwards and I hit my funny bone right on a metal-y thingy on my desk. It's been a couple of days now... I cant really feel the outer part of my hand and I keep hitting it on stuff by accident. It's getting really annoying and it's even hurting when I'm typing right now. What's going on?

The 'funny bone' is actually the Ulnar Nerve. You have caused yourself a 'peripheral nerve injury'. Try ice to reduce the inflammation in the nerve. Use an ice pack or frozen bag of peas or corn. Apply the ice pack directly over the 'funny bone' area for 15-20 minutes with at least one hour intervals in between treatments.

If ice (cryotherapy) does not provide substantial relief within a few days, it may be wise to see your family Chiropractor or a Neurologist for further evaluation.

Best wishes and good luck.
