Get up early & watch the sunrise. Or go out just before dusk & watch the sunset. You can spend the night in a motel, cabin, bed & breakfast inn, etc to do either one, alone or with friends.

Not interested? Take a walk in a botanical garden. Go to the park with a playground & swing, go down the slide, etc. Most parks have plastic playsets now days, but prepare to have dirty clothes aftewards. You can go home & change.

Take a drive to some place you've wanted to go locally that you haven't gone to before. Pretend to be a tourist in your hometown. Visit the vistor's center to get more information on what to do.

If friends or family take you out, mention to the waiter or waitress that it's your birthday. You might get a free drink, or even have Happy Birthday sung to you with a free dessert, maybe both.

Take a class in a potential new hobby. Something you wanted to try, but never got serious about it. Usually first classes in anything are free, so you lose nothing but are giving yourself the chance to define the rest of your life.

(Martial Arts, BallRoom Dancing, Cooking, Creative Writing, Yoga)

Oh, and do it alone. Don't let anyone get in the way of spoiling your day!
