What is the fastest 40 yard dash time u have ever heard of in the NFL or college football?

I heard Joey Golloway ran under a 4.20, and Bo Jackson ran like 4.23. What is the fastest person and time u have heard of?

Clemson has a player named Jacoby Ford that ran a reported 4.18. But, I don't know if it was hand timed or electronic.

All NFL 40 times are a lie, I have no idea why they do this, but they do. The Union Tribune in San Diego did a report on this last year, and if you take the 40 times these guys are posting and translate that out to a 100m time, half the guys in the league would be world class sprinters, and more than a few would be breaking the world record. And Bo Jackson only ever ran a 10.23 100m when he did track, that's fast as hell, but nowhere near world class.

The record in the NFL combine is by Jerome Mathis at 4.25 seconds, set in 2005. Deion Sander's previous record was 4.28. The 40, however, can't be accurately measured unless end-to-end electronic timing is used. Plus, wind can play a factor. A time of 4.25 seconds is pretty suspect. Today's best 100m sprinters generally run about 4.4 seconds for the first 40 yards--and that's out of blocks with aerodynamic sprinting gear.

In 1980 Stanley Floyd posted the fastest (FAT) Fully Automatic Timing of 3.61 During the "That's Incredible Show. This is fact, no hand timing. Stanley Floyd held all the world records under 100 yards. In his prime, he was fast.

If I remember correctly no human being on the planet has ever run faster than a 4.3 (or maybe it was 4.2 don't remember).

The reason you have times under that is because those were done by human timers and thus have error. If you use computer timers, even the fastest in the world don't run 4.2's.

But those guys are still lightning quick though.
