There used to be a product on the market called Gunk that removed grease & oil from your hands. Check your local auto parts store or even Wal-Mart or Target. If that's no longer available, try Lava soap. It's a rough soap that will get the grease & oil off. My ex-fiance was a mechanic for 10 years & used that mostly.

Another form of clean grease such as Crisco or Cooking oil works to loose blackened grease, then wipe off the excess and follow with a liquid dish detergent such as dawn and a good nail brush!

My husband is a mechanic and comes home everyday with nasty hands....even though he uses "Silicon Glove" before work and "Goop" after work. F1rst he takes a shower....then he does the dishes. After that even his nails are clean. Believe me the dishes is his idea!!!! I was amazed when he decided it was the best way to get his hands clean! PS. He only want's me to buy "Crystal Octagon" soap in the big round bottle. He says it cuts grease the best.
