I have had mine pirced for about 6 years now...I would suddest listening to calm music, maybe taking a tylenol or something to numb any pain you may experience (minimal anyway) breathe deeply and slowly with your eyes closed and just know that the piercing itself will only last about 15-20 seconds..at the most. It doesn't "hurt" so to speak but, you do feel pressure in your tongue but, it's over before your brain has time to register what happened to it. It's the after-part that will take some stamina.....Your tongue will swell up at least twice it's size...and be really sore for about a week but, you can soothe it by taking more tylenol and sucking on ice cubes or cold water, gargling with an antibacterial mouthwash, like Listerine (dilute with water).....**I always say though, that it's hardest to be committed after the second day.......if you can make it past the 3rd day, you will be just fine......** Stick to it! Good luck!

**for those who may suggest alcohol prior to your piercing....Don't do it. Alcohol thins your blood , which may cause you to bleed more during and after the piercing...also I think you have to sign a waiver saying you haven't consumed alcohol before piercing** Just a note :)

Make sure you don't take anything like alcohol or prescription drugs before you go in there. If something happens, you don't want your blood to get thinner.

Getting my tounge pierced was a bit nerve wrecking but the guy talked to me the whole way through and once the needle went through, I was giggling because I was what they call a 'drooler'. Just don't tense yourself up and just breathe. Keep smiling and have a friend hold your hand.

Also, make sure you don't get up after right away. You can get an adrenaline rush and I had a friend pass out from being over excited. So just sit back in the chair for a few minutes and try to drink some water.. although it's pretty hard haha!!

Good Luck!! Getting my ears pierced the fourth time hurt more than my tounge. You will do great!

If you're worried about it hurting, don't. The most painful thing about getting your tongue pierced is the clamp they put on your tongue. The actual piercing you can't feel because the of the clamp. Just follow the aftercare instructions and make sure to keep it clean and you'll be fine.

Just relax and try not to think about it. When they are piercing your tounge, don't look, it may be tempting but close your eyes and think about a showtune .
