I have sympathy for most Arabs living in the Middle East, though my knowledge is limited it seems most are poor and uneducated. I was wondering who is to blame for this, since there is so much wealth in your oil. Why doesn't it get spread around to the common people? Do the government leaders hoard it? I do not believe it is the fault of the West, since we do not control how your leaders distribute your wealth. Shouldn't your politicians make sure their people are taken care of?

Hmm... your question and statments arent exactly true.
I live in the middle east, and the opportunities for education is there. Just the Gulf countries alone have strong universities. Take Doha, Qatar for example, just one country out of the many... it has many of well known, and prestigious universities that branched out.
+ Weill Cornell Medical College (the very first branch ever in the history of cornell uni)
+ Georgetown University
+ Carnegie Mellon University
+ Virginia Commenwealth University
and many, many, many more !!!
That is just education on the higer level.. but if we look at something as simple as schools, from pre-k to highschool, a lot of them are based on either the american or british system.
The american school in qatar is known to be one of the best in the entire middle east, based on standardized tests.
Moreover, public schools also have strong standards. What is more, those students that do well in school (B+ or higher) are given the opportunity to get an instant scholarship from the government and they are sent to universities abroad or within the country. They pay the full tuition and are given an additional salary to live on.
So the wealth is given out to the people =)
It depends on the individual to take full advantage of what the country has to offer.
However, that doesnt mean that poor people do not exist. I would be lying if I said that everyone lives wealthy. Yes, most of the people in the middle east are well off, but yes there are a number that are not. Still, what countries do not have poor people???
America have people living on the streets, the poorest person in the middle east has a bed to sleep on and food on their plate each night. Makes you wonder doesnt it.
The poor in the middle east are not like the poor in say India, or under developed countries. However they are "poor" in comparision to the rest around them (on other words based on society).
More over, if you want to focus on the wealth of the countries.
We dont pay taxes, medical care is free, we dont pay water and electrical bills... and much much more. The benefits for the people in the middle east are never ending.
Anyway hehe there is so much more I can say but I think you got the jist of it all.

PS. about the comment about us not having internet.. umm LOOL... yeah i guess my post should explain enough. Furthermore, about women... yet again a false conception of the middle east =). Women are considered to be so precious. Opportunties are endless.

The leaders that lead those countries could care less about the common folk and even less about the women!!! The rich hoard all of the money for themselves, make it against the law to educate women and girls, the men and boys have no time for school because they are busy supporting families, it's a viscous deliberate cycle!!! They blame us because WE BUY the oil to put in our SUV's from those greedy, rich middle eastern leaders!!!!

I think as you said your knowledge is limited on it. I think you should Research on your question before middle east have a name in the world as Dubai is well known about Trade as it is also well known in the field of education.
Saudi Arab also have excellent about of top universities among world. Like King Abdul Aziz University, and other. . . . . So i will recommend you to study about that.

There are poor people in each country in the world, not just Arab countries.
Not all Arab countries have oil, Jordan has nothing! Syria also and other Arab countries.
Education is free in my country ( Jordan) for elementary schools.
