I think I want to change my cartilage piercing now, but do I have to wait 8 or 12 weeks? Besides, the back will not come off! Any suggestions?

You need to put alcohol on a cotton ball and soak the ear, then turn the earring while holding the back. You should wait the amount of time you were told because cartilage gets infected easy and takes alot more time to heal than the normal piercings. I have 4 cartilage piercings myself and a naval piercing. Trust me, you need to give it time, because the pain of infection is terrible. Good Luck!!!

was it pierced with a gun?
how long have you had it and so long as its heeled you can change it
the back wont come off easy if it was pierced with a gun because the gun pushes it on tight
i found with my 4 they all got infected as soon as i changed them so hold of as long as possible
if you need to know more just email me
it doesnt matter how many piercings you have everyone of them is different
i have ten and not one of them healed the same way
and the people in the shops and the chemists are qualified to pierce ears because they go to school for it as i did.

Oh no, you shouldn't even have a back! You should ALWAYS get piercings done with a hoop (not a stud, bar, or curved bar) at a professional piercing salon, never at a store at the mall or a Walmart. The people who work at those places are not professional piercers, and it is much more common for you to get bad infections, even with proper cleaning. (Been there, done that.)

But, since it's already been done, it should be AT LEAST 8 weeks. Clean it regularly for the next year (daily, if possible) using witch hazel ($1-$2 at the drug store). Keep an eye open for infection. Do not put the back on them too tightly.

if it is the butterfly type of back, ( from an ear peircing gun ) what I have done in the past is take a pair of tweezers, put one arm of them between ear and back of earring and put the other on the post of earring. This would be easier if someone helps you if you can't see the back. Then pinch them together and USUALLY the back slips right off. Be careful they don't slip as that can hurt a bit.

Those are tricky and the reason you cant get the one you have on off is because of the stupid back they put on there that locks on part of the post. Get someone else to pull it for you and they should be able to get it off but immediatly get the new earring in there. Use some vasoline to help.

you have to put the special solution... if you don't have that, just clean it with alcohol... then rotate it and take it off... i think its 12 weeks...
