I just ordered a mattress topper and am concerned it'll move around a lot since the people sleeping on it normally do...also, i don't know if it'll fit inside my sheets with my mattress, but think it would look stupid sitting on top by itself.

The topper should not move around once you put your fitted sheet over it. Some of the toppers will actually have a strap that will go down around the corner of the mattress to help keep them in place. There are clip on straps available in home stores that you can also use. Have a good night and good luck with the topper, they are comfortable!

Ok, here's the deal. The topper goes under the fitted sheet. Depending on the mattress, in some cases you may have to purchase a deeper pocket sheet set to fit properly. You will just have to try it and see. Pull it really tight. You will probably have to adjust the corners of the fitted sheet every several days, or once a week or so. Good luck!

I'm sorry but why would you think it goes on top of your sheets? What would be the point of the sheets then?

Anyways, they sell these things at Wal-Mart that are made especially for situations like this. They are elastic straps with a clamp/clip on each end. You use them on the underside of the mattress to hold the topper on by clipping this thing to it on each corner.

I read all the answers but I would buy extra deep pocket sheets
then measure a corner of the mattress, cut 4 pieces of elastic and sew it on. Then measure the middle section side to side and sew that piece on and the topper will stay in place.
The trick I use on the bunk beds is i sew one side of the elastic on and safety pin the other side and do the same with the middle piece. It makes it much easier to take off and shake out!

the mattress topper goes on the mattress and the sheets go over that. if the mattress pad doesn't stay on very well then you can buy those things that are called "sheet straps"

It goes underneath the sheets and there should be elastic straps at each corner that wrap around your mattress. You may need to get deep-pocket sheets if yours no longer fit, but it will be worth it.

It has to go under your sheets.
As long as it fits properly it shouldn't move at all.
