I have a beige colored tub in a house I just moved into... and the tub has a white type of bacteria or mildew thing on it. I tried just scrubbing it with basic cleaners and that was a no go. So if anyone has ever had this problem and solved it. PLEASE HELP!

If the tiles/grout and tub has green or brown/black color on it try using Tilex Mildew Remover. It works great, just leave it on for 5-10 minutes and then rinse it off.
If you have white streaks (it can be chalky) you have hardwater deposit. Use CLR (calcium, lime, rust) brand or Lime Away (rcl). This stuff will make the white stuff bubble and sponge off.

I bleach everything for hours on end. Fill the tub with hot water and a lot of bleach. Let it sit for a few hours. Then clean it out and repeat the process until it's gone. If that won't work, then you may not want to use the tub...ever, lol.

Oh yeah and Kaboom is incredible, but ooooh will you need ventilation!

Try X-14. There may be a problem with ventilation in the bathroom. Mildew grows in damp places so get some air in there by opening a window or installing a vent fan.

Check the above websites for Tilex Mildew Remover. I spray it on after I shower to keep the tub clean from mildew buildup. No scrubbing necessary. Spray it when the tub is still wet and moist from the shower steam as this will help soften dirt or mildew to come off.

WOW lots of good advice here... but none have worked for me... I have a tub with 34 years of lime / scale / mildew buildup. I have tired everything so I will put this question on "watch" so to possibly get a better idea !! : )

I found that the cleaner KABOOM is awesome. Just spray it, leave it for a minute and then wipe it out. It even gets rid off scum on the acrylic doors!

You have to use bleach or a product that has alot of bleach in it to get rid of mildew.

X-14. You can buy it at Walmart or any other store like it. My friend cleans nasty apartments and swears by it.

I usually just spray bleach from a spray bottle and let it set a bit.
