Do you think motorcycles should be allowed to park in fire zones? they are too small to really block a hydrant, and a hose could easily go over/around them. what are your thoughts?

If you have to ask then that is the problem. I hope you are not wanting to park there. Just imagine how much a 5 inch supply line weighs when full of water; you just don't kick it around. But if you want a couple a hundred pounds of supply hose ruining your bike then go for it. I am sure a firefighter would enjoy laying one across the handle bars or tins.

Don't listen to symanlegr... because i can promise you that you are not always the first out and that the firefighters are not going to get out and move the bike. Most likely it will either be knocked over or ran over at the owners expense with no liability going back to the fire dept. It is a tow away zone for a reason.

Sure go ahead and park there. I'm sure it won't block a fire hose. But, don't cry when the fire truck runs over the motorcycle because it was blocking the fire hydrant. Why do you think they made that a no parking/fire zone in the first place?

Have a great day!

Call the Riverside County police department. They can help you regarding telling you the proper amount. There could have been a slip of the pen, but anywhere fire zone parking is illegal and, I understand, carries a heavy price tag. I'm just going to explain something to you because you might not know. The reason law enforcement is so strict regarding parking in fire lanes, even if you were only going in somewhere for 5 minutes: Within that 5 minutes, a fire or medical emergency involving rescuing an individual or helping to load someone to be transported to a medical facility for treatment could happen. If a vehicle hinders the space, the necessary emergency personnel can't get to fire hydrants; they may not be able to get as close as what they may medically need to be. It's your issue, and I understand you're upset about the cost of the fine. If you're upset about the issue, based on what I've explained, do you still want to fight the ticket if you're fighting about the issue also? Please think about it.

No, nothing should be allowed to park in fire zones. It is about more than the hose - all emergency vehicles and personnel need a clear path. Technically, a fire hose could go over a car quite easily too.

no. Do you honestly think that your bike will not get knocked over in the event of a fire that they would need to access the fire hydrant? That hose you talk of is not an average garden hose...it is a full powered pressureized hose that will shoot water 100+ feet through a 3" line...and if that line lets go it will whip around and beat the heck out of everything...including your bike if it is too close. Also, in the event of a fire do you think that it is wize for having the firefighters to have to move your bike out of the way first...lives could be at stake!!!

So, do you still want to park your bike there?

I think a fire zone should remain a no parking zone. Yeah, one motorcycle won't get in the way, but what if there's more than one? Where I live, a lot of people ride motorcycles/mopeds/scooters, so outside a lot of buildings, it's not uncommon to see 7 motorcycles. If there are 7 motorcycles in a fire zone, that's like the equivalent to a car parking there... I think it's just easier to keep things the way they are.

Motorcycles seem to have an easier time finding parking anyway. They can park in those tiny triangular left over spaces in parking lots, or park in between cars when it comes to parallel parking.

No, they should not be allowed to park in Fire zones. There too many hazards that could happen. Someone could bump into them and cause them to fall over on themselves or someone else, an innocent bystander. The cycle could be damaged very easily if parked there. It blocks the entrance of the store for pedestrians who could key the cycle or break something on it, mess up the paint, etc. It's a bad idea to for cycles to park there.

No. They should only park in a parking space. Do not block fire zones. Fire trucks need to be there in case of emergency. Good luck with that.......

No they should not.A hose maybe able to go around them but can a fire truck and you would kick up a big stink if your bike got damaged, wouldn't you. There are plenty of other places to park your bike

I do it. Its safer than parking in the lot with the jackass cell phone users backing into things. If there is a fire, I'll be the first one out. Four fire fighters could move a good sized car, certainly they can move a motorcycle.
