Is lead supposed to go from black to another color to the next color, etc, then gold?

alchemy is a precursor of science from hundreds of years ago. Long before video games, there were people trying to turn lead into gold.
That's why this question is in the mythology section.

Good question! Yes, there is a order of color changes in Alchemy. Granted, the changes is to the person itself. When one starts out, the person starts out at black, because he/she is impure. Then the person goes through purification (white), and when he/she learns more about Alchemy, they move to yellow. When he/she reaches to the point of, what would be equivalent to enlightenment, he/she becomes red, just like the sun. At that point the Philosopher's Stone can be made.
Keep in mind that these are levels of knowledge, wisdom, and skill. Not actual physical color changes that a person experiences.
