I know it's obvious, and the people in the movie should recognize him. There's actually a meaning to this. Superman, unlike other superheroes, is borned as a superhero. He's not human. He's just wearing suits working in an office pretending he's human. This is his disguise. His disguise appears weak, unsure, incapable, and this is what superman thinks of human. This is why when he's Kent Clark, he's just like any other human and nobody would have thought he's the omnipotent superhero.

What are you saying? Clark Kent and Superman are the same man? That is crazy! Clark Kent is a nerdy reporter. Superman is a super hero. You conspiracy guys always crack me up. What's next The Nutty Professor and Buddy Love are the same guy? or how about Samantha and Sabrina on Bewitched being the same woman? You are obviously delusional. Hey did you ever see that movie "Twins" with Governor Arnold and Danny Devito? Where do you suppose they found those other two guys who looked exactly like them? Not only did they look like them, but the one that looked like Arnold was even a bad actor just like the real Arnold. It was really incredible. The world is a mystery to me. Oh I gotta go, I hear the television in the living room and it sounds like "The Patty Duke Show" is coming on. Have you seen it? It's about identical twin cousins. I don't think they look that much alike though. See ya.

Cuz they're idiots? Lol
Actually in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies (well from the first one at least), Clark acts like such a complete geek it would truly be hard to believe that he was Superman, probably why most don't make the connection. For those that do (Lois), even when they contemplate it, the idea seems completely ridiculous (until she starts seeing more "clues" later on in S2 I think), hence he remains well disguised under his non de plume.

for one, clark wears glasses, while superman doesn't. also, in the cartoons (or movie?) clark suppose to be shorter in height, when he is superman, he is able to "lenghten" (not sure if it is the correct word to describe it) his height a few inches. oh, clark is obviously weaker in strength and kind of clumsy as compared to superman

Lois Land did. In Superman 2 with Chris. Chris did such a good job with covering himself up as Superman and obviously we know Clark is Superman because they told us. Would you know who it is if they hadn't told us?

Those darn glasses. I keep watching the movie over and over and figure that one of these times, someone will figure it out.
Maybe he should use the glasses with the nose just to be safe. Nobody will ever notice then...

For the one part, it is fiction and written that way. Not to mention, you wouldn't think that a geeky accident prone man like Clark would be such a suave superhero.
