Do society's moral "obligations" give individuals more freedom or less freedom?

Examples of Moral Obligations: To take care of family members; to help those in need- those who are poor, those who are defenseless, those who are in physical pain or danger; to respect those in power, etc.

My first reaction would be to say that they give individuals less freedom, but it depends on your point of view.
If you are disabled and rely on a family member for transportation, the moral obligation is what gives you the freedom to move around.
Interesting question.

that's a good question. you could write a whole essay on it. Too complicated for a short answer though.
