Technically, you shouldn't be working if you're receiving SSI benefits. There must be a reason that you are getting paid without having to work. With that said, you can probably talk to your caseworker about how much you can earn monthly without losing your benefits altogether. If your desire is to transition out of your current situation, then great! You can probably keep your medical benefits and SSI money for a short "transitional" period before forfeiting them altogether once you are on your own.

If you're attempting to work to make money aside from your SSI benefits then you are, indeed, abusing the system. I don't want to sound mean but most taxpayers do not mind one bit sharing the expense for SSI as long as the money goes to people who cannot work -- not for those who simply don't want to.

periodic baby sitting
mowing yards/shoveling snow
any jobs usually done by teenagers

most jobs/employers are required to file social security and any withholding. Even jobs with tips, ie: waitress, bellhops, and strippers have to include this on their taxes. Unless you have relatives with a business that you can work at. You might be able to get money paid under the table (for a while). The other method is to do illegal things, which is not recommended.

There are probably some income limits you can stay under and still receive benefits. Medicaid income limits apparently vary by state.

Using a website that is easily accessible to law enforcement might not be the best place to ask this sort of question if you are trying to avoid legal and IRS scrutiny.
