My computer will not do disk clean up for me. I have tried many of times...it will just set on 4 bars and not go any further. I have had my computer since 2001 and never had any problems with the clean up until recently...and I have let it set for 4 hours waiting for it to go through the clean up. I can get it to defrag still.

Hey,

Sorry about that problem! Disk Cleanup takes a long time to erase and compress old files especially if you have alot. The easiest way to clean up your computer is to do it manually by deleting everything IN those folders except index.dat in cookies

c:\windows\temp
c:\windows\temporary Internet Files
c:\windows\cookies

Disk Clean does this...

Remove temporary Internet files.
Remove any downloaded program files (ActiveX controls and Java applets downloaded from the Internet).
Empty the Recycle Bin.
Remove Windows temporary files.
Remove Windows components that you are not using.
Remove installed programs that you no longer use.
