It's unlikely to be a stroke or a heart attack. More probably, you have cracked a rib, or you have pulled a muscle.

With a stroke, you would have problems answering questions, raising your arm on command and might demonstrate some weakness in your grip or problems with motor skills.

With a heart attack, the pain typically starts in the center of the chest, then radiates rapidly up to the neck and into the left arm.

These are only guidelines of course; both problems can present asymptomatically; and women get far less obvious signs of a heart attack than men do.

Only you can decide how much this bothers you. You don't have classic signs of a serious condition, but if you are concerned, go to your doctor and have it checked out.

Wow. It seems like your describing something similar to what I experienced as a kid and occasionally as an adult. I get those achy, sharp pain in my chest / rib area. Often the pain is mild but sometimes it's so bad I can barley take a breath. It also feels like it starts at the bottom of my rib cage and then travels up my side as it slowly goes away. I was told by my doctor it was "growing" pains. Then when I was older, I brought it up again and he said it could be a muscle spam. It's been months since I've had one. With me, the pain only last a few seconds and at the most a minute or two. They also only seem to happen once or twice in a day when i do have them. I would suggest that if they occur more frequently, multiple times in a day I'd see someone about it. It could be nothing or it could be something (kind of obvious answer).

There are dozens of things that can cause sharp chest pain, some serious and some trivial. It can be a muscle problem
(a "stitch" in your side), an infection, gas, an airleak in the lung (pneumothorax), shingles. blood clots, cancer or nearly anything else. Heart pain is usually not described as "sharp."

Strokes rarely involve chest pain. However, since any chest pain at all needs to be taken seriously, you need a real diagnosis from a physician. That way you can stop worrying and if there is a problem, treat it early instead of late.

Doubtful that it's a stroke. Strokes cause headaches, and paralysis or weakness, especially on one side. I also doubt it is a muscle strain, but it's possible. It's more likely some sort of pleural pain (having to do with the lining of the lungs). Better check with the Dr.

Don't wait 3 days for the best answer Chest pain could be caused by a number of ailments. Get your butt to the ER better to be told you have indigestion then to show up in the morgue

do u have shortness of breath?, does the pain radiate anywhere....if not, it could just be muscle strain,, whatever it is , if it persists call ur own doctor. Make sure u write down the times when u are having those pains and what are u doing when it happens. write your questions for your doctor.

Go see a doctor. Seriously! Chest pains are not something to be taken lightly. Could be Angina brought on by stress, or could be something minor. Only a doctor can know for sure.

Sounds like stomache related especially since you just got some heartbreaking news. Try Pepcid Complete.

I'd say WALK.. don't run, to the doctor. Could be a lot of things, but you want to have it checked, even if it's just for peace of mind.
