I think the lineup on the field is awesome.
The team could (and already has) absorb injuries to any on field players, except Jeter, Rodriguez and Posada.
The starting pitching is vulnerable but we see the main starters are getting some rest now. Wang and Mussina are solid. The key is Johnson. At this point in his career he has become very inconsistent. The fourth and fifth starters become less important in the playoffs. Depending on the opponent, Wright and Liddle may match up well.
Middle and late relief looks OK and it should be safe to say Rivera will bounce back from his minor injury.
To me, their chances look as good as any team for the World Series.

I'm kind of tired of the whole "the yankees are a purchased team..." when a handful of their players have been there a long time and have come up in their system (Cano, Jeter, Williams, Posada...). And everyone complains about them being the most expensive team, that no other team has a chance. Don't be mad b/c Steinbrenner is a business genious. They can afford to have their ticket prices low, which allows many people to go to the games, and because they're such a great team to watch, they're never having to worry about the stadium being empty. They've got it figured out and I think it just pisses people off.

Offense is second to none in the MLB.
Defense isnt great but can get the job done.
Pitching is one of the better staffs, I'd rank them atleast in the top 5 in the American League.
Bullpen has had a little trouble but, with Mariano saving games they do have a pretty good bridge from the starter to Mariano.
