It's because they don't get paid enough and they have to shop at dumps like Wal-Mart.

I do not know of anyone that shops at Wal-Mart that is making a "good living" as you say...

For a single guy companies want to pay as little as possible.

For most of the employers around here that would be $8.00/hr

So is 8.00 bucks an hour a good living?

The cheapest one bedroom apartment is $425
and car insurance is $1800 per year?

Let's see shall we.

8 x 40 = 320 per week GROSS

- 27% for all of the payroll deductions that we all have to pay.

Your net pay = 233.60 NET PAY

233.60 x 4 weeks in a month = 934.40

934.40 - 425 rent = 509.40

509.40 - 150 per month in car insurance = 359.40

359.40 - 120 electric and 34 for basic phone service = 205.40
(water and sewer are included in the rent)

205.40 - 100 per month in gasoline = 105.40

105.40 - 200 per month food = OOPS ! - 94.60 in the hole

Put those groceries back!!!

This is with out any of the following.

car payment
cable for TV (you can't have an antenna at an apartment.)
Clothes
medicine
A date...

AAAAHHH YES - a good living...

So why are people using WAL-MART?

Ask the employer when he drives his company paid mercedes to his 425,000 home.

:o)

First of all, who doesn't want to get paid more? Wal Mart is able to be the mega store it is by saving EVERYONE money and paying their employees little. However, most retail jobs pay as poorly as Wal-Mart. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Pay your employees very little so they have no other choice but to shop at the least expensive store in town, which is ultimately Wal-Mart. Mega retail chains are taking over our communities and filtering dollars in to larger cites while fleecing smaller communities. Buying from a Mom & Pop establishment ultimatly keeps that money in the community because Mom & Pop hopefully turn around and spend that money in another Mom & Pop establishment. ~This answer could go on forever.

Everyone would like to get paid more. To be able to live a more comfortable life. To be able to pay your bills on time, to put food on the table, have insurance, etc. With the economy the way it is we don't necessarily want to shop at Wal Mart, but some of us that is all we can afford, until we get some decent politicians in office that are willing to stand up for the people, for medical care, prescriptions, insurance, and of course higher wages

i could say somewhat authentic. i've got taken a foodstuff recite to a close-by Harris Teeter, an upscale food market and shopped each and every merchandise i offered at Wal Mart. i found all yet one merchandise and if I had shopped at that shop (purely 2 blocks from my abode, wal mart being 8 miles away) i could have spent 2.5 situations as lots. So I do shop funds and that i could wager considering i did no longer spend that 2.5 situations over i'm waiting to spend the version on something else, subsequently stay extra constructive...I purely examine out it as saving funds, i'm no longer residing from now on constructive.

Didn't you ever read the Millionaire Next Door, Rich Dad Poor Dad or anything else on building wealth? Most rich folks live below their means.

Sounds like you're a little too insecure to shop at Wal-Mart.

If you're insecure, it doesn't matter how rich you are, you're always at the bottom.

Good luck with that!

Probably because you can buy all the famous name brands ( for the most part), furniture, clothes, toys, auto accessories & repair, sports equipment, small appliances and Electronics equipment for less than you'd pay just about any where else. Same Quality - Less Money! That way you get more things for less or have more money to put in the bank. What gave you the impression it was a dump? Do the lower prices make it a lesser establishment?

It's called smart shopping and only those who have had to work hard to get their money have learned to appreciate it. It's the ones who have been given everything on a silver platter that don't have any value for the dollar and just spend it like it's growing on trees.

There are many celebrities and millionares, who spend the money like it's going out of style and if you asked them how much they spent last month they don't have a clue, because they never pay the bill. They even pay somebody else to do that for them, so as far as they know they could be getting ripped off blind.

This has to do with a person's income which you can study further in economics.
Here's my summary: When people are poor and couldn't afford expensive things they will try to save for future consumption by buying cheap stuffs at the present. But when they are rich, they will prefer to shop at high-class places because now that they are rich, they can concentrate more on quality goods to be on par with their wealth.
Generally everyone regardless of being rich or poor, want to be paid more. The poor wants more to escape poverty. The middle-class wants more to enter upper-class and fulfill their dream of being rich. The rich wants more just to keep score.
And whether people want to shop at Wal-Mart or at Trump Tower depends on their wealth. The poor looks for quantity to further their survival-hood. The rich looks for quality to enhance their good lifestyle and living conditions.

Walmart MAY be a dump but people shop there because they're not stupid enough to go to a reall expensive store to buy the same shampoo and same brand and same quantity for a more expensive price just because they want people to know they're rich.
You make more money because you're SMART enough to save SOME of it or actually PAY all your bills
how old are you anyways? obviously you don't know much about life
