my friends and i always see this one boy in school and around our neighborhood. hes kind of a nerd and i dont really dislike him but my friends all make fun of him and do mean things to him. is it wrong of me to joke about it with them and not stop them when there being mean to him and sometimes even join in a little?

If you don't follow what I am saying, or what Voltaire is saying, by that then I'll just add this: You know it's wrong. So why are you here? Is your conscience nagging you which brought you here looking for some sort of validation to going along with your friends? Or are you just needing a boost with telling your friends that you think what they're doing is $hitty. Hopefully it's the last one. If that's the case then I'd encourage you to tell them you think it's a dick thing to do and you won't do it anymore. You should definitely do at least that much. If you have the balls to though, why not do more than just 'tell them it's wrong' and stick up for him?

Jonathan, at your age, when friends are so important and you want to be part of the crowd, it is never easy to do the right thing when you see everyone else being mean. You just don't want the same abuse piled on you for sticking up for him. There are alot of different kinds of people in the world, and we must learn to appreciate their strengths and learn to live with their weaknesses, up to a point. I understand how difficult it is to speak up sometimes, but that is where you learn to have the courage of your convictions. If you don't speak up, who will? Never be afraid to speak your mind, have compassion for others less fortunate than you, and stand up to bullies, no matter the consequences. It could just as easily be you that they ridicule one day, and it would be nice to have someone stick up for you if you arent around to do it yourself, wouldn't it? Don't follow the crowd just to be following it. At least the "nerd" knows that much, doesn't he? It speaks well of you that you at least have a guilty conscience about the shoddy and undeserved treatment he gets. Now learn to do the right thing, even if it causes you discomfort and some royal ribbing.

The fact that you're even asking the question says that you know it is wrong. Take a stand for what's right. You have no clue what other problems this kid is dealing with. Imagine what it would be like to feel all alone and then have a bunch of jerks harrassing you all the time. Give the kid a break. Life is hard enough without a bunch of bullies giving you grief.

you already know the correct answer to your question. So if you are here to try and find others that will agree with the hurtful ways of your friends then you come to the wrong place. Stop and think for a minute. How would you like it if someone did it to you. We all go through life hoping to fit in and just be friends with our peers. So at the expense of anothers feelings you are giving in to peer pressure. Is it really worth the price that a stranger is paying for you to be acceptable

Yes, it is wrong of you, He most likely needs a good friend rather than being harassed!
Also one of the side problems of this type of thing is as we have all learned, is a person can be pushed to far and start bring weapons to school and shooting people!
In any even people should keep their smart mouths to them selves. and extend the hand of friendship!

actually it is. it's actually cruel to make fun of anyone you don't know personally. and i don't really think he's ever done anything to you. so it's actually really mean for you to join in. now as for your friends you could just walk away when they talk bad about him or say i'm tired of listening to you make fun of him. it's annoying and boring. and it's an old subject. plus. what has he ever done to any of you guys. and if they say anything back along the lines of what you friends with him now or you're in love with the nerd tell them if they were true friends they'd repsect you.

Have some compassion! So what if he's kind of a "nerd". He still has feelings, and nobody's perfect. How would you feel if a bunch of girls made fun of you, say for the way you dress, or how you behave?

Remember now and always, that nerds rule the world! They are the smartest, therefore, they graduate college. They are doctors, lawyers, business owners, and government leaders. I can absolutely guarantee you that someday, you will desperately seek the help of a nerd who can keep you out of jail, help you buy a house, keep you out of debt, go through a divorce, and literally save your life. I'll say that again, you are 100% GUARANTEED that a nerd will one day save your life!

Yes mam it is wrong. You will have to answer to the man upstairs one day. You should be nice to him. What if it was your brother? Would you want people doing things to him like you are doing to this guy. You need to go to church, you would see thing a lot different then. GOD DON'T MAKE NO JUNK!!!!!
