Sales by far!
That's coming from an engineer! And I love what I do but that takes a lot of time and money to get here.
But nearly anyone I know in sales, especially when they have a product that they can believe in because of quality and performance, make excellent dollars.
Stay away from "commission only" jobs because they are usually nothing more than a scam. If an employer won't pay you a base salary, commission and benefits then you have to ask "what kind of faith are they showing in their own products?"

I'm in Baton Rouge. If I knew of any good jobs in the state, I would tell you.
I would concur that he try outside sales in some field he finds interesting.
Or the entrepreneurial route is good. If you have a little start-up money, maybe he could find a franchise that fits his personality.

try real estate, if he's handy with a hammer buy houses, some foreclosures, fix them and flip them. If you just want fast cash, you don't have to fix them. But be wary of taxes in your area. Depending on location, you have a certain amount of time to own a piece of property before you have to pay taxes, but if you sell it within a time period you will not have to pay.

if you are daring and risk-taker, probably enterprenuer. my uncle started a multi-million dollar irrigation company in arizona, didnt have a business degree or anything special, he just took a chance and started it in his home and then it grew and he got contracts and placed bids with the city and the rest is history.

In a good market in real estate you can earn triple figures, however, most areas are quite depressed right now. I would say some type of self-employment or entrepreneural effort is your best bet.
You could go to Iraq and drive a truck... they're paying HUGE wages.
Good luck!

Start your own business. Window washing is a fairly simple one as is lawn care. Get started and hire people to do the work while he is managing the business.
