The weather can be pretty unpredictable. I am in Minnesota which isn't too far from Chicago. To give you an idea, on Thurs it was in the 80's and on Sunday it was 40's (there was a tornato in the area on sunday because of the change in temp). I would suggest wearing something that you can add a sweater to if it is cold and be able to take it off if it is warm. If you are planning to wear a dress you might want to pack nylons and tights if you get cold easily. Otherwise nice dress slacks might be better depending on how the weather is. Also, Chicago is considered the windy city because it is so open, so the wind can make it feel even colder.

Depending on the weather wear what you feel comfortable in you can easily wear a dress and change into jeans later in the day lol I know I did last year.Good Luck

check out this website for good semi formal dresses. you could also wear plain black pants with a really nice top.
