How long has your baby been constipated? Go to the drugstore and get baby suppositories. The pharmacist will tell you want to buy. Tell the pharmacist how long the baby has been constipated. If you cannot get to a pharmacy call on the phone and explain this. They are very knowledgeable. You might be advised to take baby to the hospital if it has been too long.

My daughter had awful constipation on and off from 2-9 months. She would get so bound that she would cry for hours- until I finally figured out what the problem was. I talked to my doctor and he said to go ahead and give her some juice in her bottle. She didn't particularly like it in the beginning, so I had to give it to her when she would wake up and was thirsty. She didn't seem to take more than a few sips, but it did the trick every time. Good luck- I know a baby in pain means a mother in pain.

If he is getting 8 oz of milk in his bottle per feeding, then give him 8 oz of water a day. You don't have to give it to him all at once, just an ounce or two between feedings. This should keep him regular. I wouldn't suggest giving him anything your doctor hasn't said was okay. Your doctor always knows best. When one of mine would get constipated at that age though, I would take a rectal temperature. You don't really need the temp, but, it will cause him to push.
Good luck! Congrats on the new baby.
Don't change your babies formula without talking to the doctor first.

okay. im probably one of the few moms who have had the worst child consitpatrion.now my little girl is 2 1/2. but her constipation started at 8 months. and let me tell you. at first the kayro syrup would work like a charm. but then it was like her body would get used to it. then we tried suppositories, same thing. then we took her to the doctor and they subscriber her with some"prescrition" which i tasted myself and it was basically just like a syrup, when that didnt work they sent us to a "specialist" who "specilized" in constipation, they told me she needed more vegetables in her diet. and to give her pear and prune juice, which like all the times would work at first and then it would stop. finally i got fed up with the docters, then my mom told me about a friend of hers whos son was the same way. and when the docters wouldnt help, she gave her son just a little fiber-one in his diet, now ur baby isno where near an age for that yet, and it probably wont even get that bad. so if ur child is old enough for juice, which i think 2 months is a little too young, i would try pear or prune juice, or the baby suppositories.sorry if this was a bit much, i just want to tell you what i know. good luck.

The first and best is to make sure he is constipated. If hes just grunting and when he poops its soft, hes not. But if u are sure, u can put a lubricated (non mercury) thermometer in his rear for a few seconds b/c that gives his muscles the head start they need. If that doesnt work- contact your pedi first, but u can give a little prune juice with water or a suppository for babys- but ASK first. Also with the thermometer u can give him a warm bath first, massage his tummy, then insert it but make sure u use vaseline

If your two month old is suffering from constipation, you may want to consider getting the baby a formula with a higher fiber content. Try them on Similac High Fiber.

When my niece (and later my nephew) had constipation at that age we fed them prune juice, and white grape juice. We also made a habit of gently rubbing their bellies a while after eating, and *very* softly bouncing them on our knees. If that doesn't work, try going to a drug store/pharmacy and getting some baby suppositories. If your baby is still constipated, go to a doctor.

A little bit of Karo Syrup, mixed with some nice warm water. Also, may want to see about switching formulas, Isomil always constipated my children, similac seemed to always keep them having good bowel movements. That pediacare also makes them poop.

GOODNESS...who ever said that babies can go 7 days without a BM is WRONG...they shouldnt go for more than 3...dont use the karo unless it is your DRs protocol...I am a peds nurse and we werent allowed to give karo advice...use a lubricated thermometer first off ..the stimulation is usually enough.,,,if not you can give a few ounces of prune or pear juice,,,,if that doesnt work,,try a 1/2 of a glycerin suppository...that will work....still you may want to talk to your DR about a RX called miralax...hope that help and good luck
