If it is just to play, then there is no age limit, you can start at any age no matter how late depending on what your body is capable of, what type of sports you are getting into and if you have the passion to learn that sport. But if you join a sport to compete in the Olympics, for example, then you would really need to start very young. In gymnastics, for example, you're too old if you start at 16.
While starting at an early age helps tremendously, some individuals can start late but have a perfectly agile body and strong passion to develop the skills to excel in the sport in even less time than someone who started early enough but just doesn't have what it takes to be a good athlete.

No. I started playing ice hockey when I was 17, and I am the fastest on out there. If you have the drive, and determination, you aren’t too late. Yes, you will need to work harder, but again, you need to really want it. What really helped me was that I already knew how to ice skate, but also, it was all knew to me, so I never had an attitude with the coaches, and just enjoyed being out there. I told my first coach "look, I have never played this on a team level before" and he basically explained to me that the majority of the people out there who have been playing for a while suck because they start to think they are God's gift to the game. I can’t go pro for hockey (no Canadian for on), but I did get to play for my B-level college team* (had to stop for a while, my grades suffered), and that was great. * I say B-Level because my school isn't known for hockey, and it is a real small program.

those ages are not too old to start sports. I think when your body can not handle the sport then you are too old. But the ages you got listed are not too old to start playing a sport.

As long as you can do the sport properly you're never too old. Professionally? start as early as possible within reason.

Depends on the sport.

Gymnastics may be too old, but soccer may be right on target
