Why do some people feel a positive attitude is a sign of weakness?

When a person is possitive they are also kind. Kindness is often mistaken for weakness as this person is less prone to fly off the handle or harm another. They do not realize that even though it takes more to push them into it once they are set off you would really rather deal with the person who has the negative attitude. Sure they go off at the drop of a hat, but a possitive person only goes off when you have really done something wrong and that makes it ten times worse. Dont let the sunshine fool you. A tiger waits in those woods.

Maybe because neither positive attitude or a negative attitude is particularly healthy.
A positive attitude is helpful, but many people with a positive attitude refuse to accept reality. People with a positive attitude often have unrealistic expectations(a weakness), while people with a negative attitude often have difficulty enjoying life because they expect everything to go wrong (an even bigger weakness).

A realist is someone who sees things as they actually are, and who can accept any situation that comes their way.

I believe a realistic attitude is better than a positive one.

Take the half a glass of water test:

The positive person would say that a half a glass of water was half full;
the negative person would say that a half a glass of water was half empty.
A realist is satified with the amount of water in the glass, seeing only a half a glass of water......

That will be because some people see life as something that suck big and the only way of survival is to be tough and negative - always expecting and be prepared for the worst.
When others have positive attitude, these people see them as people who do not wish to face the fact that life is hard and negative. They see these other people as trying to run away from painful truths by being positive. We usually see running away as a sign of weakness and thus see these other people as weak.

Jealousy is the obvious answer.
Maybe they think you are not being realistic or rational. There are some people who just sugar coat things to death rather than deal with an issue. That could be a weakness.

they are normally the people that fight for everything......they see a positive attitude get the things they have to fight for....and there for a fighting attitude is harder....there for you are weaker because you show them you are better in the way you do not have to fight.

they think nice is also a sign of weakness. shame too! all their lives they get bitten and used by cheapskates, cheaters, drama queens, angry people, immature people, violent abuser types..

but they laugh nice, calm, reasonable, mature, patient and happy people away.
