I feel that a great wrong has been done by the people who were brought here to be slaves, but not by ALL white men, just THOSE white men who brought them here, then THOSE who bought, traded, and used the people as slaves. We as a nation need to see that. You dont go into history and look at who was murdered in your family and then go look for the murderer and ask THAT family for retribution do you? NO! YOu see that the MURDER his/herself is brought to justice, and that is all that can be done. Move on, people....Get over it and stop letting the past empower you, or rather, UN-empower you. It is NOT your fight to fight, it was the person who went through it, and it is NOT all white people who need to be punished for it, just those who did wrong.

I completely agree with you. There are no current former slaves living among us. They have people in their history who were in slavery, but there are alot of cultural groups who were persecuted all over the world. Christians, Jews, Etc. I had nothing to do with slavery. I am white. I have not one racist bone in me. But I am sick also of feeling that black people can use slavery as an excuse to be racists themselves. Its actually a nice easy way to be rebellious and angry and let them cry racism at everything that doesnt go their way. It is a closed chapter in American history. We need to remember it , learn from it, but not live it.

I got tired of all the comments so actually looked the subject up..It is quiet interesting the first slaves were actually white being immigrants dutch and Irish and those blacks that were free owned black slaves themselves..

It is kept alive by Jessy Jackson and others who would not have a job if Black America was to move on and move up. So they jump on everything and turn it into discrimination. To justify their own existence

Maybe it's because Blacks are still treated as an underclass.
