The best way I would go would be to fly, if you choose a flight with 1 or more lay overs, then the price goes down. Book your flight at least 1month in advance can save you a bundle. I hope this helps, and if you a lot of things to take with you, mail them to someone you know there..

Haha - I feel the same way about Texas!
There are no buses that will go all the way to Alaska. You could either get a Greyhound bus or Amtrack train from Texas to Seattle, then get a flight from Seattle to Anchorage. Or you could get a flight from Texas to Anchorage, and not worry about a bus or train. It all depends on if you can get a cheap flight. Orbitz.com is a good place to look, or priceline.com.
Hope this helps!

You live next to DFW, get an American Airline flight, two months from now, make sure you fly before the 26th of the month, and fly on either Monday or tuesday, and check the layover time, not the stops. The longer the better, later you arrive the cheaper, because the company sees you more likely to miss a final light, and drops the price.
